Episode 2: Ana Melikian, PhD - Being Gentle With Yourself

Meet Ana Melikian, PhD! Ana is an optimist who overcame two bouts with cancer to learn that pursuing happiness is a fallacy. To choose happiness is a much more powerful strategy to tap into our highest human potential. Ana teaches how positive psychology and personal awareness can help us to break through mindset limitations, upgrade our psychological operating system, and achieve more than we thought possible in our work and life. Ana is the Director of Education for Book Yourself Solid®, a Board Certified Coach (BCC), and a proud member of the ICF – International Coach Federation, and the ACEC – Association of Corporate Executive Coaches. Before moving to the U.S., Ana Melikian obtained her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Sunderland, UK, taught at several Universities in Portugal and Spain, and co-authored several articles and book chapters. As a speaker, coach, and consultant, her focus is on applying psychological and social science insights for success and fulfillment to the power of being human.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:10,300
Hello, beautiful humans.
I'm so glad to have you here

2
00:00:10,300 --> 00:00:12,900
again today.
And today, I want to introduce

3
00:00:12,900 --> 00:00:18,300
you to a very special guest.
This is the lovely animal Egan

4
00:00:18,300 --> 00:00:22,400
who I met recently and just had
to share her with you because

5
00:00:22,400 --> 00:00:25,000
she cannot be kept to herself.
She is a person that must be

6
00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:28,900
shared.
And so the thing that I want to

7
00:00:28,900 --> 00:00:33,300
tell you about Anna to start out
with is that she is a

8
00:00:33,300 --> 00:00:38,900
self-professed Optimist, but she
wasn't always that way, Anna.

9
00:00:38,900 --> 00:00:43,000
Believe it or not had to
overcome not one, but two bouts

10
00:00:43,000 --> 00:00:48,700
with cancer and she came out
stronger on the other side.

11
00:00:48,800 --> 00:00:50,900
And so that's why she's such an
inspiration to me.

12
00:00:50,900 --> 00:00:55,100
And I wanted her to be able to
meet with you and tell you about

13
00:00:55,100 --> 00:00:58,700
her own personal journey, and it
is also the director of

14
00:00:58,700 --> 00:01:00,900
education for book.
Solid.

15
00:01:00,900 --> 00:01:05,700
She's a board certified coach,
she's a member of the IFC, which

16
00:01:05,700 --> 00:01:09,100
is the international coach
Federation, and she's also the

17
00:01:09,100 --> 00:01:12,200
host of her own podcast called
the mindset Zone.

18
00:01:12,500 --> 00:01:15,700
The thing that I love about Anna
is that she really speaks about

19
00:01:15,700 --> 00:01:19,800
happiness and what it takes to
not pursue happiness, but to be

20
00:01:19,800 --> 00:01:23,600
happy from the inside, welcome
to the human Beauty movement.

21
00:01:23,600 --> 00:01:25,300
And I'm so happy to have you
here.

22
00:01:25,900 --> 00:01:29,800
So, happy to be here.
First off, why don't we tell?

23
00:01:29,900 --> 00:01:33,600
Tell everybody who's watching
today, a little bit about you,

24
00:01:33,600 --> 00:01:36,300
you grew up in Portugal, I
understand that's where that

25
00:01:36,300 --> 00:01:40,200
sexy accent comes from.
Yes, Greg thought was born and

26
00:01:40,200 --> 00:01:44,100
raised in Portugal and I soon as
I called it was in my late

27
00:01:44,100 --> 00:01:47,500
teens, I start to travel, and to
study abroad.

28
00:01:47,500 --> 00:01:53,500
So I study in England, I studied
in Spain and now I live in

29
00:01:53,500 --> 00:01:56,600
Phoenix Arizona, wonderful.
Wonderful.

30
00:01:56,700 --> 00:01:59,600
Tell us about your Wellness
Journey.

31
00:01:59,600 --> 00:02:03,800
Like, Were you were you
following along a specific path

32
00:02:03,800 --> 00:02:06,800
until your adulthood?
And then, you know what shifted

33
00:02:06,800 --> 00:02:09,900
for you as far as what you would
consider Wellness, whether that

34
00:02:09,900 --> 00:02:14,500
be physically or mentally, or
from a soul perspective, I was

35
00:02:14,500 --> 00:02:19,400
lucky to be born and raised in
Portugal in a household,

36
00:02:19,400 --> 00:02:25,000
middle-class, very stable.
With homemade food all the time.

37
00:02:25,000 --> 00:02:27,700
A lot of fish, my grandfather
was a fisherman.

38
00:02:28,300 --> 00:02:32,500
So I had a very Very good at
bringing in many different ways,

39
00:02:32,500 --> 00:02:36,700
including the wellness, both
physical, and psychological.

40
00:02:37,100 --> 00:02:43,400
And the, in even when I was by
myself and by my own in terms of

41
00:02:43,400 --> 00:02:48,500
food them in terms of exercise,
not data was perfect, of course.

42
00:02:48,900 --> 00:02:55,300
But I always strive to eat the
best and the organic and cooking

43
00:02:55,400 --> 00:02:59,200
organizing myself to be able to
cook mainly after I had my

44
00:02:59,200 --> 00:03:05,500
daughter, And exercising, too.
I always realize the importance

45
00:03:05,900 --> 00:03:08,500
that we have to take care of
ourselves.

46
00:03:09,300 --> 00:03:12,900
That doesn't mean that I didn't
abuse my limit.

47
00:03:15,700 --> 00:03:22,800
Do you smell bad?
Because mainly after Yeah, in

48
00:03:22,800 --> 00:03:26,100
our my teens and I young adult
would, but there and then the

49
00:03:26,100 --> 00:03:29,800
body can deal.
I think better with that, but on

50
00:03:29,900 --> 00:03:34,500
Honestly after I add my dog
perm, I really one of the things

51
00:03:34,500 --> 00:03:39,700
that I absolutely did the lack
of sleep, sometimes we are lucky

52
00:03:39,700 --> 00:03:44,400
to have a baby that is wonderful
in the evening and everything is

53
00:03:44,400 --> 00:03:47,200
roses.
At that level somebody will have

54
00:03:47,200 --> 00:03:51,700
other challenges.
I possibly the first year.

55
00:03:51,700 --> 00:03:57,700
I didn't slap well when and then
I got into the rhythm of pushing

56
00:03:57,700 --> 00:04:01,600
my limits at that level.
And I was sleeping less than

57
00:04:01,600 --> 00:04:07,900
five hours at night if I have to
think about 13 GE because things

58
00:04:07,900 --> 00:04:10,000
like cancer and that the illness
out there.

59
00:04:10,600 --> 00:04:15,000
Like my oncologist told me there
is not one reason there is not

60
00:04:15,000 --> 00:04:19,100
their cows but if every time
that I reply my life

61
00:04:19,100 --> 00:04:23,400
circumstances and we know
they're genetically, we did some

62
00:04:23,400 --> 00:04:26,800
studies that I don't have any of
the known ones.

63
00:04:27,400 --> 00:04:31,100
If there is one thing that I
think Sigurd attended.

64
00:04:31,100 --> 00:04:35,500
What happened for me was the
stress and the lack of sleep.

65
00:04:36,700 --> 00:04:40,600
Very, very common, just for a
variety of reasons.

66
00:04:40,600 --> 00:04:43,400
It could be because you're a new
mom, it could be because of

67
00:04:43,400 --> 00:04:47,200
stresses of work or just
relationship or us just being so

68
00:04:47,200 --> 00:04:51,300
hard on ourselves, right?
We always want to see what we

69
00:04:51,300 --> 00:04:53,000
can do to get to that next
level.

70
00:04:53,000 --> 00:04:57,200
And that pushes us at motivates
us to just probably, you know,

71
00:04:57,200 --> 00:05:00,800
do more with our bodies and and,
you know, then Then we should in

72
00:05:00,800 --> 00:05:05,500
any given amount of time and so
yeah, valuing rest, I think is

73
00:05:05,500 --> 00:05:09,500
really coming much more to the
Forefront is like a key pillar

74
00:05:09,500 --> 00:05:13,100
of wellness and one that I think
a lot of us had taken for

75
00:05:13,100 --> 00:05:16,200
granted before.
And another thing I'll do say of

76
00:05:16,200 --> 00:05:18,200
they're pushing was to push and
culture.

77
00:05:18,200 --> 00:05:22,500
I can push a little bit more and
the artwork kind of I deserve

78
00:05:22,500 --> 00:05:26,100
success only if I work really,
really hard and I'm getting

79
00:05:26,100 --> 00:05:28,600
things happening.
So I have to keep pushing and I

80
00:05:28,600 --> 00:05:31,900
can do being a man.
Mom and also having my own

81
00:05:31,900 --> 00:05:35,600
business.
I love to give help but I hate

82
00:05:35,600 --> 00:05:40,400
to ask for help.
Yeah, so all those Dynamics and

83
00:05:40,400 --> 00:05:44,600
even things that I don't like
regret because I think we only

84
00:05:44,600 --> 00:05:48,100
can change the future, but
things that I say really and I

85
00:05:48,100 --> 00:05:50,900
could have been a little bit
more clever Idol.

86
00:05:50,900 --> 00:05:56,000
I, I felt something in my breast
was not the typical bumper, was

87
00:05:56,000 --> 00:05:59,500
because the type of cancer that
I add this call inflammatory

88
00:05:59,500 --> 00:06:00,400
breast.
Cancer.

89
00:06:00,400 --> 00:06:03,000
So it's like an inflammation
like a must do.

90
00:06:03,200 --> 00:06:07,300
So was not the typical thing
that you expect that cancer to

91
00:06:07,300 --> 00:06:10,800
be.
So I thought that I delay, I

92
00:06:10,800 --> 00:06:15,800
didn't immediately, when I
notice went to my gynecologist,

93
00:06:16,000 --> 00:06:20,700
I delay until was convenient.
They at was break the winter

94
00:06:20,700 --> 00:06:22,200
break of my daughter.
That okay.

95
00:06:22,200 --> 00:06:26,400
Now I have time to look at
myself and that when I look back

96
00:06:26,400 --> 00:06:32,700
is 0, Okay.
That was not very clever of my

97
00:06:32,700 --> 00:06:38,800
part and that was very lucky
even like they actually say, the

98
00:06:38,800 --> 00:06:42,000
doctor says that, that didn't
because the type of cancer is

99
00:06:42,000 --> 00:06:44,500
very aggressive.
So we'll, they're not that than

100
00:06:44,500 --> 00:06:49,000
a big difference but even all
this a for everybody if you

101
00:06:49,000 --> 00:06:54,000
notice something do something,
don't we regret more?

102
00:06:54,000 --> 00:06:55,900
What we don't do than what we
do.

103
00:06:55,900 --> 00:06:59,200
So yeah.
Do you think that it might have

104
00:06:59,200 --> 00:07:02,400
been a bit?
Denial or Shear inconvenience.

105
00:07:02,400 --> 00:07:06,500
This is like yeah all of them.
There was the the inconvenience

106
00:07:06,500 --> 00:07:09,700
it's not convenient now to stop
everything they're time juggling

107
00:07:09,700 --> 00:07:14,700
because the balls can drop how
can wait until and there was a

108
00:07:14,707 --> 00:07:19,400
denial, I exercise, I ate
healthy.

109
00:07:19,400 --> 00:07:24,100
I was very I was feet feeling
energy that I could take on the

110
00:07:24,100 --> 00:07:27,600
world.
So the thought of me having

111
00:07:27,600 --> 00:07:32,800
cancer was not know there.
That will not happen to me and

112
00:07:32,800 --> 00:07:38,700
because was not the typical kind
of lump that we are alert for.

113
00:07:38,700 --> 00:07:41,900
If you feel that then do that
because was a little bit

114
00:07:41,900 --> 00:07:43,900
different, I managed to
rationalize our.

115
00:07:44,600 --> 00:07:46,600
Okay, the body will take care of
it.

116
00:07:47,600 --> 00:07:50,800
Once you get a diagnosis like
that, what what goes through

117
00:07:50,800 --> 00:07:53,000
your head?
What runs through your mind?

118
00:07:53,100 --> 00:07:56,300
How are you feeling?
No, it's really when people

119
00:07:56,300 --> 00:07:58,900
speak about and it's not just
cancer.

120
00:07:58,900 --> 00:08:01,600
There are the city.
Situations that I think people

121
00:08:01,600 --> 00:08:05,100
described in the same way and I
was not just the description

122
00:08:05,100 --> 00:08:09,200
always living at the things.
Slow down suddenly force a

123
00:08:09,200 --> 00:08:13,600
cartoon, like a big thing bump
in the head and we are like

124
00:08:13,700 --> 00:08:17,900
reorienting, ourselves and
everything becomes almost in

125
00:08:17,900 --> 00:08:22,900
slow motion.
And there is a numbness of the

126
00:08:22,900 --> 00:08:25,800
situation.
We cannot believe really but

127
00:08:25,800 --> 00:08:27,800
it's really true.
Are we dreaming?

128
00:08:27,800 --> 00:08:31,200
Are we awake?
That is All these different

129
00:08:31,200 --> 00:08:34,200
things going on.
And then first, I went to my

130
00:08:34,200 --> 00:08:37,900
gynecologist and she could not
see me was the practitioner

131
00:08:37,900 --> 00:08:41,500
nurse, and when she saw us, you
know, that something serious was

132
00:08:41,500 --> 00:08:45,200
and I saw her face.
Getting white babies is not good

133
00:08:45,400 --> 00:08:49,400
and they didn't.
I, they didn't let me leave the

134
00:08:49,400 --> 00:08:54,100
building without me to have an
appointment with a breast

135
00:08:54,100 --> 00:08:57,400
surgeon.
They act specializes in many

136
00:08:57,400 --> 00:09:01,700
types of these situations.
In a couple of days later to go

137
00:09:01,700 --> 00:09:05,100
and that is when things start to
realize what is going on.

138
00:09:05,100 --> 00:09:08,000
But then you have exam after
exam, you have to find an

139
00:09:08,000 --> 00:09:11,600
oncologist, we have to find the
radiologist you have to try to

140
00:09:11,600 --> 00:09:16,500
understand what is going on.
So they are so overload of

141
00:09:16,500 --> 00:09:20,600
information of things.
This is strange feeling and I

142
00:09:20,600 --> 00:09:22,000
have the full support of my
husband.

143
00:09:22,000 --> 00:09:25,400
Now, I was lucky enough that I
had, that has been that was

144
00:09:25,400 --> 00:09:30,400
there in my sights, helping me,
the family that was Helping me

145
00:09:30,400 --> 00:09:32,800
with my daughter and all of
that.

146
00:09:32,800 --> 00:09:35,700
So because they are people that
are not so lucky to have a

147
00:09:35,700 --> 00:09:39,700
network of support.
I have an health insurance, I

148
00:09:39,700 --> 00:09:43,500
cannot I absolutely, I cannot
think about the situation.

149
00:09:43,500 --> 00:09:46,200
If I didn't add a good health
insurance, how cool.

150
00:09:46,200 --> 00:09:48,700
All this side?
Because when you start even with

151
00:09:48,700 --> 00:09:51,900
coupet and we have to keep a
record of everything.

152
00:09:52,400 --> 00:09:58,000
Whoa, it is scary.
How much everything's out up?

153
00:09:58,000 --> 00:10:03,600
So it's absolutely Crazy.
But my mindset that the time

154
00:10:03,600 --> 00:10:06,900
when that happened was okay,
this is a big challenge.

155
00:10:06,900 --> 00:10:09,200
But I can I really can beat
this.

156
00:10:09,200 --> 00:10:15,300
I can I will, let's focus let's
and they gave me a plan, there

157
00:10:15,300 --> 00:10:17,300
is hope.
So let's do it.

158
00:10:17,300 --> 00:10:20,500
When is the next step?
And I'm years to do it.

159
00:10:20,500 --> 00:10:27,200
So I really got my, the fighter
inside me to do it and I brave

160
00:10:27,200 --> 00:10:29,100
to the treatments and all of
that.

161
00:10:29,200 --> 00:10:35,000
And at the same, I'm I was
feeding some resentment towards

162
00:10:35,000 --> 00:10:38,000
my body I felt betrayed by my
body.

163
00:10:38,200 --> 00:10:42,200
Hmm.
How I treat you reasonably.

164
00:10:42,200 --> 00:10:47,100
Well why do you do this to me?
I know that I was not perfect in

165
00:10:47,100 --> 00:10:49,600
the way that with our seen that
this Association.

166
00:10:49,600 --> 00:10:53,700
I was like, oh, come on.
Wow, I don't deserve this.

167
00:10:53,700 --> 00:10:58,400
Why is this happening to me?
But I was feeling there was

168
00:10:58,400 --> 00:11:01,700
negative feelings.
Towards my body.

169
00:11:01,700 --> 00:11:07,100
How can it's almost the extreme
dissociation of our head from

170
00:11:07,100 --> 00:11:09,000
the body.
How can you do this to me?

171
00:11:09,700 --> 00:11:14,900
So it was interesting was, but I
came in the other side, after

172
00:11:14,900 --> 00:11:19,400
all, the treatments, all the
surgeries everything, because it

173
00:11:19,400 --> 00:11:23,800
takes a toll in so many levels.
I use the expression that I

174
00:11:23,800 --> 00:11:26,700
really held my breath.
Like, when we are in a tough

175
00:11:26,700 --> 00:11:30,900
situation, we can survive this.
We can do this, like, Gather all

176
00:11:30,900 --> 00:11:36,100
our strength to do this and two
years later when I was really

177
00:11:36,100 --> 00:11:42,300
going back to relax, enjoying my
glass of wine with my talk left

178
00:11:42,300 --> 00:11:47,700
and all those beautiful things
we are in Portugal, then we came

179
00:11:47,700 --> 00:11:52,800
back and I had my regular
mammogram for the other breast.

180
00:11:52,900 --> 00:11:55,600
I went there.
This is thinking is a regular

181
00:11:55,600 --> 00:11:59,700
one because cannot happen again,
that kind of thought is like no

182
00:11:59,900 --> 00:12:03,600
No, this was once I did
everything I was doing and then

183
00:12:04,100 --> 00:12:08,700
the technician she goes out.
It's better.

184
00:12:08,700 --> 00:12:12,800
If we do also do through sound
but you still discount that and

185
00:12:12,800 --> 00:12:16,200
then when the doctor comes in
and say, okay what is going on

186
00:12:16,200 --> 00:12:20,400
here?
I was a different type of cancer

187
00:12:20,400 --> 00:12:25,200
and more common type of cancer,
but was like, again, another

188
00:12:25,300 --> 00:12:31,000
like that, you are even not
being as dangerous as the first

189
00:12:31,000 --> 00:12:35,500
cancer, because the first one
was stage 3B.

190
00:12:35,800 --> 00:12:40,600
So the first one or the say, it
was really scary at many levels

191
00:12:40,600 --> 00:12:43,300
in the second.
One thing, God was not at that

192
00:12:43,300 --> 00:12:46,600
level, but was more
psychologically.

193
00:12:46,800 --> 00:12:49,400
There is Something else that I
have to learn here.

194
00:12:50,600 --> 00:12:55,200
One of the big differences that
I took the second time around.

195
00:12:55,200 --> 00:12:57,300
Is that first?
I okay.

196
00:12:57,300 --> 00:13:00,400
I don't know if there is a
tomorrow that was the first time

197
00:13:00,400 --> 00:13:02,900
I think I didn't.
I even that thinking about that

198
00:13:02,900 --> 00:13:06,800
possibility but the second time
we don't know what is going to

199
00:13:06,800 --> 00:13:10,900
happen.
So I have they're looking to

200
00:13:10,900 --> 00:13:14,500
that fatal.
The limitations our mortality

201
00:13:14,500 --> 00:13:20,300
was very strong the Second time.
I cannot just hold my breath and

202
00:13:20,300 --> 00:13:22,400
do it again.
I have to face this.

203
00:13:23,200 --> 00:13:28,800
I realize how lucky I was that.
My body was strong enough to

204
00:13:28,800 --> 00:13:35,000
handle all the treatments again
and I really start to embrace,

205
00:13:35,000 --> 00:13:37,500
yes, the cancer came and all of
that.

206
00:13:37,500 --> 00:13:41,200
But whoa, I'm strong enough to
get another round of chemo and

207
00:13:41,200 --> 00:13:44,700
come in one piece in the other
side and managed to keep the

208
00:13:44,700 --> 00:13:46,900
schedule.
Let's treat the night.

209
00:13:47,200 --> 00:13:50,200
Our to do keto diet, that really
helped me a lot.

210
00:13:50,400 --> 00:13:53,300
I went to the conventional
treatment, but I did all that

211
00:13:53,300 --> 00:13:58,800
the things even more.
The second round to give me the

212
00:13:58,808 --> 00:14:04,200
better chances and try to enjoy.
Absolutely, the little things.

213
00:14:04,200 --> 00:14:10,500
And that was a big shift was the
second time that my I use a lot

214
00:14:10,500 --> 00:14:14,000
of mindset work and
visualisations and stuff in the

215
00:14:14,000 --> 00:14:19,200
first time that this shift in
terms of Of my actitud towards

216
00:14:19,200 --> 00:14:23,400
life changed a lot when I went
in the second time.

217
00:14:24,500 --> 00:14:28,300
Amazing, do you think that it
was a gradual process or was

218
00:14:28,300 --> 00:14:31,100
there just a moment when you
knew you were like, you know

219
00:14:31,100 --> 00:14:35,500
what this is a blessing or you
know that the way that you look

220
00:14:35,500 --> 00:14:38,900
at something can be can either
bury you or it can raise you up,

221
00:14:38,900 --> 00:14:41,300
right?
Absolutely.

222
00:14:41,700 --> 00:14:44,200
Hmm.
I think was not just one moment,

223
00:14:44,200 --> 00:14:47,100
they are moments and then is the
globalization of this.

224
00:14:47,200 --> 00:14:50,800
Moments and there wasn't nothing
to change that.

225
00:14:50,800 --> 00:14:53,200
I cannot pinpoint.
Okay, this happen and they are,

226
00:14:53,200 --> 00:14:56,100
you was okay.
How do I deal with it all the

227
00:14:56,100 --> 00:15:00,000
dealing with the situation?
Yes, I learned from it.

228
00:15:00,100 --> 00:15:03,400
Yes.
I'm a better person now then I

229
00:15:03,400 --> 00:15:05,900
feel better with myself so many
levels.

230
00:15:06,300 --> 00:15:08,700
I still cannot say that it's a
blessing.

231
00:15:08,900 --> 00:15:12,300
It's part of life.
I see it more step and it's not

232
00:15:12,300 --> 00:15:17,000
I don't have - I managed to be
nailed through all about mmm.

233
00:15:17,200 --> 00:15:21,400
Yes, when it happens these
things and My Philosophy was

234
00:15:21,400 --> 00:15:25,000
always what is the best that I
can take out of the situation.

235
00:15:25,100 --> 00:15:29,300
So I really Embrace that about
the situation Stefan.

236
00:15:29,300 --> 00:15:33,200
They say, it's not something
that I ever wish to anybody else

237
00:15:33,200 --> 00:15:36,700
or we can learn.
There are always I my message

238
00:15:36,700 --> 00:15:40,800
out there when I speak about
positivity and the power of

239
00:15:41,200 --> 00:15:44,500
death happiness, doesn't need to
be this, the nation.

240
00:15:44,500 --> 00:15:48,500
A penis is really a choice that
we doing the Today by focus on

241
00:15:48,500 --> 00:15:52,100
small stuff, we don't need to go
over this life-threatening

242
00:15:52,100 --> 00:15:55,700
situations to learn that my big
thing.

243
00:15:55,700 --> 00:15:58,300
Okay.
Listen to our voices because our

244
00:15:58,300 --> 00:16:01,900
internal voice is there for a
long time, trying to call our

245
00:16:01,900 --> 00:16:05,400
attention to be more whole and
to grow.

246
00:16:05,500 --> 00:16:10,400
And I listened to some of it,
but I also ignore other parts of

247
00:16:10,400 --> 00:16:14,900
it and I think if we help people
just to be more aware of their

248
00:16:15,000 --> 00:16:18,900
inner wisdom, let me through.
Transformational without having

249
00:16:18,900 --> 00:16:23,000
to way of this kind of big live
events for us to grow.

250
00:16:23,300 --> 00:16:26,200
I think there are some real
interesting nuggets.

251
00:16:26,300 --> 00:16:30,700
One of them is the non
judgmental - of any situation,

252
00:16:30,700 --> 00:16:31,900
the idea of not going to label
it.

253
00:16:31,900 --> 00:16:33,300
Good I'm not going to label it
bad.

254
00:16:33,300 --> 00:16:34,600
I'm not going to leave a little
lesson.

255
00:16:34,600 --> 00:16:38,700
I'm not going to label it a
curse, it just is and we move on

256
00:16:38,700 --> 00:16:42,200
because then you're not
necessarily associated with such

257
00:16:42,200 --> 00:16:45,500
emotion with that tie which will
then hold you back.

258
00:16:45,500 --> 00:16:48,900
It's just this is part of Life
is a fact of life, and of

259
00:16:48,900 --> 00:16:51,400
course, when you're when you
first face with it, it's, you

260
00:16:51,400 --> 00:16:54,600
know, inevitably shocking.
But once you get over that and

261
00:16:54,600 --> 00:16:56,900
you realize the only way to move
forward is to move forward.

262
00:16:57,000 --> 00:17:01,400
I can't stay stagnant here.
I've got to carry on and the

263
00:17:01,400 --> 00:17:04,099
other interesting thing that you
mentioned is that it's those

264
00:17:04,099 --> 00:17:07,300
small things.
It's not like the Skies part and

265
00:17:07,300 --> 00:17:09,099
the Seas you know it right?
You know.

266
00:17:09,099 --> 00:17:11,800
It's not like this Grand.
Aha.

267
00:17:11,800 --> 00:17:15,200
Like I think a lot of people
think that these mindset

268
00:17:15,200 --> 00:17:18,300
conclusions are that just hit?
You over the head and all of a

269
00:17:18,308 --> 00:17:20,800
sudden, you become a new person
because of some kind of gravity

270
00:17:20,800 --> 00:17:22,700
or some something that happened
in your life.

271
00:17:23,000 --> 00:17:26,800
It's just these little micro
moments, and these micro choices

272
00:17:27,000 --> 00:17:30,300
along the way about, how can I
make the best of us, how can I

273
00:17:30,300 --> 00:17:32,900
be the better for it?
How can I handle this?

274
00:17:32,900 --> 00:17:36,100
So that it's positive.
And those are the things that

275
00:17:36,100 --> 00:17:39,000
get you through it.
Those little choices, every

276
00:17:39,000 --> 00:17:42,000
single moment of every single
day, I could not agree, more

277
00:17:42,000 --> 00:17:45,900
Small Things, even after you go
through any, even sometimes can

278
00:17:45,900 --> 00:17:48,300
be just a scare.
Of the going to drive.

279
00:17:48,300 --> 00:17:51,400
And there is a situation that
scares us and we realize how

280
00:17:51,400 --> 00:17:55,900
lucky I was.
And then when we go orchids and

281
00:17:55,900 --> 00:17:59,400
oh gosh, I had this chance to
ask them again the or when we

282
00:17:59,400 --> 00:18:03,400
look to something with a fresh
eyes small details.

283
00:18:03,700 --> 00:18:06,900
And when we allow ourselves to
smell the roses and paste of our

284
00:18:06,900 --> 00:18:10,300
coffee, we like coffee or tea,
but the small stuff.

285
00:18:10,600 --> 00:18:12,400
Mmm.
That's beautiful.

286
00:18:12,900 --> 00:18:17,100
And so afterwards.
Do you think that there was a A

287
00:18:17,108 --> 00:18:21,900
change in how you want to live
your life or are you, are you

288
00:18:21,900 --> 00:18:24,800
saying like now, you know, these
things happened.

289
00:18:25,000 --> 00:18:28,000
Obviously, you've said that
you've changed your diet and

290
00:18:28,000 --> 00:18:31,600
your, do you doing other things
that could contribute to more

291
00:18:31,600 --> 00:18:35,000
Wellness in the future.
But notwithstanding anything can

292
00:18:35,000 --> 00:18:36,800
happen.
We all know this, there was a

293
00:18:36,808 --> 00:18:39,900
big change personal development
was always, an important thing

294
00:18:39,900 --> 00:18:42,800
in my life.
So absolutely.

295
00:18:42,800 --> 00:18:47,000
I embrace that even more that I
really start to learn from

296
00:18:47,200 --> 00:18:52,800
Performance and for my
performers about how the be very

297
00:18:52,800 --> 00:18:57,400
strategic about the use of the
time and the our energy levels,

298
00:18:57,700 --> 00:19:01,700
I start to realize that we can
achieve a lot be more in this

299
00:19:01,700 --> 00:19:03,800
instead of being the push push
push.

300
00:19:03,900 --> 00:19:09,000
We'll be learning out to find
the flow, how to be in that

301
00:19:09,000 --> 00:19:13,400
zone, but I kept things going,
they are say, how can you keep

302
00:19:13,400 --> 00:19:15,800
that going?
I'm learning how to do this in a

303
00:19:15,808 --> 00:19:20,400
different way and And after with
the second one was more, I had

304
00:19:20,400 --> 00:19:24,100
learned of lots of the out, how
to do it in the, in the first

305
00:19:24,100 --> 00:19:26,400
goal and out to become more
efficient.

306
00:19:26,400 --> 00:19:31,400
And all of that, the second way
around, was more digging in my

307
00:19:31,400 --> 00:19:35,300
why, and the purpose, maybe that
was.

308
00:19:35,300 --> 00:19:37,300
Cause I had start with the
tools.

309
00:19:37,400 --> 00:19:44,200
I have better tools then to
really not keep delaying to the

310
00:19:44,200 --> 00:19:45,000
Future.
Okay.

311
00:19:45,000 --> 00:19:47,000
When I have time, I will do
that.

312
00:19:47,300 --> 00:19:52,100
Now is the time to do that.
That's fascinating to I'm, and

313
00:19:52,100 --> 00:19:54,500
I'm going to go and build off of
something that you had said

314
00:19:54,500 --> 00:19:56,600
before.
Which was, you know, when you

315
00:19:56,600 --> 00:20:01,600
were all of a sudden faced with
something dire, there's this

316
00:20:01,600 --> 00:20:04,300
resentment.
And there's this, you know, this

317
00:20:04,400 --> 00:20:07,100
either egg, some people get
angry, some people get sad

318
00:20:07,100 --> 00:20:09,400
upset, just like there's just,
there's a whole gamut of

319
00:20:09,400 --> 00:20:12,300
emotions that that go on about
that.

320
00:20:12,700 --> 00:20:17,900
But what I think that a lot of
people wish to do is to be able

321
00:20:17,900 --> 00:20:21,000
to heal from the feelings of
resentment.

322
00:20:21,300 --> 00:20:24,600
Like how can they not resent
their own bodies, whether they

323
00:20:24,600 --> 00:20:27,700
are well, whether they are not?
Well, there's a lot of people

324
00:20:27,700 --> 00:20:32,400
that resent the package that
they have been brought into this

325
00:20:32,400 --> 00:20:34,500
world.
What do you think are some

326
00:20:34,500 --> 00:20:38,000
mindset tips that people can
abide by that can help to

327
00:20:38,000 --> 00:20:42,100
release those kinds of tensions
that kind of Anguish?

328
00:20:42,300 --> 00:20:46,600
For me, personally, was really
embracing the mindset shift, not

329
00:20:46,600 --> 00:20:51,300
tissue, An inflexible thing, but
realizing that I am I bought in

330
00:20:51,300 --> 00:20:56,100
my body's me.
Even if we believe that after we

331
00:20:56,100 --> 00:21:00,500
pass of this existence, there is
something else at the moment.

332
00:21:00,700 --> 00:21:05,800
We are this, hmm?
And if we are in this miracle,

333
00:21:05,800 --> 00:21:09,300
whatever I do, you want to
Define is absolutely even in a,

334
00:21:09,300 --> 00:21:14,000
rational, not taste as to
recognize that this being a

335
00:21:14,008 --> 00:21:18,400
human being, is that is capable
of Of think in the way that we

336
00:21:18,400 --> 00:21:22,800
think and try to grasp the
mysteries of the universe is

337
00:21:22,800 --> 00:21:27,000
something very peculiar unique
and extraordinary on so many

338
00:21:27,000 --> 00:21:30,700
different levels.
So there is something really

339
00:21:30,700 --> 00:21:35,200
incredible in all human beings
where we are at the moment, we

340
00:21:35,200 --> 00:21:37,900
are at the moment.
The body is part of the the

341
00:21:37,900 --> 00:21:41,800
package and we cannot, this is
associate one to the other.

342
00:21:41,800 --> 00:21:46,100
So we don't choose how we can,
but we can take care of our

343
00:21:46,100 --> 00:21:49,500
Temple.
So, Speak course in terms of

344
00:21:49,500 --> 00:21:54,500
systems and Society we allow
building a culture and a society

345
00:21:54,500 --> 00:22:01,400
that the sets diversity of every
kind from color to shape two

346
00:22:01,800 --> 00:22:04,900
different ways of expressing
ourselves ayat.

347
00:22:04,900 --> 00:22:10,300
For me, my wife, I was learning
how to love myself as I am

348
00:22:10,400 --> 00:22:12,300
loving ourselves and accepting
us.

349
00:22:12,300 --> 00:22:15,800
We are doesn't mean that we
cannot Thrive to improve.

350
00:22:16,000 --> 00:22:18,600
I think there is a Dance between
these two things.

351
00:22:18,600 --> 00:22:23,700
And we really have to get a
enjoying that I like in it as to

352
00:22:23,700 --> 00:22:26,800
being satisfied with, who you
are, and where you are.

353
00:22:26,800 --> 00:22:29,400
But eager for more, eager for
that growth.

354
00:22:29,400 --> 00:22:33,800
Looking forward to an exciting
for what's yet to come and that

355
00:22:33,800 --> 00:22:36,700
Journey, it's interesting
because when you were saying

356
00:22:36,700 --> 00:22:41,400
there is this mindset that we
have as humans that, you know,

357
00:22:41,400 --> 00:22:43,800
because we're so busy, we have
jobs, we have families.

358
00:22:43,800 --> 00:22:46,800
There's so much going on that we
have to do that.

359
00:22:47,100 --> 00:22:50,800
Seem to delay our gratification,
we do we delay, our happiness,

360
00:22:50,800 --> 00:22:54,200
or we we postpone it and put it
into some mysterious future and

361
00:22:54,200 --> 00:22:57,000
say, I'll be happy when it's the
weekends, I'll be happy.

362
00:22:57,000 --> 00:22:59,500
When I make that money, I'll be
happy when I get their

363
00:22:59,500 --> 00:23:03,100
promotion, or when I retire or
when I whatever it can be.

364
00:23:03,400 --> 00:23:05,300
We're delaying our own
happiness.

365
00:23:05,300 --> 00:23:08,700
Well, wouldn't it be better to
live as if you are, happy every

366
00:23:08,700 --> 00:23:12,200
single moment now.
You know, I think that it's

367
00:23:12,200 --> 00:23:15,200
funny because I often think like
that when we were young time,

368
00:23:15,200 --> 00:23:18,300
you saw almost danced till it
was almost Almost like a day or

369
00:23:18,300 --> 00:23:21,400
so long, a week was forever
every waiting for the next

370
00:23:21,400 --> 00:23:26,300
Christmas was like torture.
You know, it's like but now that

371
00:23:26,300 --> 00:23:28,900
we're adults were constantly
pre-planning with one year

372
00:23:28,900 --> 00:23:31,600
five-year ten-year plans.
It's like we forget what year

373
00:23:31,600 --> 00:23:33,100
were in.
We forget what, you know, what

374
00:23:33,100 --> 00:23:36,800
day it is the week, and we
forget to be happy in this

375
00:23:36,800 --> 00:23:40,200
moment and look around and
really just breathe and slow

376
00:23:40,200 --> 00:23:43,900
down and release that stress and
and know that everything is

377
00:23:43,900 --> 00:23:46,900
really okay and that no matter
what comes your way.

378
00:23:47,200 --> 00:23:52,100
A, you know, absolutely.
And there was a lesson because

379
00:23:52,800 --> 00:23:56,400
even when things are tough,
because I still remember the

380
00:23:56,400 --> 00:24:01,600
small small stuff of, for
instance, the food really taste

381
00:24:01,600 --> 00:24:05,700
like Caillou losses, you lose
the taste and the smell and all

382
00:24:05,700 --> 00:24:08,800
these cardboard kind of thing,
but you still have to feed

383
00:24:08,800 --> 00:24:11,300
yourself and Visually I still
could see.

384
00:24:11,300 --> 00:24:15,000
So I pay what climb.
Make it to look nice.

385
00:24:15,000 --> 00:24:16,900
The table.
The colors.

386
00:24:17,000 --> 00:24:22,200
I love the food, small stuff
that make us even when we are in

387
00:24:22,200 --> 00:24:26,700
pain or cake when we are in
pain, we have to find ways of

388
00:24:27,100 --> 00:24:32,200
and minaret death, but
afterwards, he says, when we get

389
00:24:32,200 --> 00:24:34,100
up on the infield a little bit
better.

390
00:24:34,100 --> 00:24:36,800
Oh, I'm feeling better.
That is great.

391
00:24:36,900 --> 00:24:39,400
Really pay attention to the
small stuff.

392
00:24:39,600 --> 00:24:43,400
There's your beautiful words are
there any other parting thoughts

393
00:24:43,500 --> 00:24:47,700

quotes that You have as your

394
00:24:47,700 --> 00:24:51,500

00:25:01,500 --> 00:25:05,800
